LAS VEGAS (AP) — San Francisco 49ers linebacker Dre Greenlaw went down with a freak Achilles tendon injury in the first half of the Super Bowl against Kansas City on Sunday. Greenlaw bounced up and down on the sideline and then started to run onto the field with a few teammates when he collapsed holding his left leg. Greenlaw started all 15 games he played this season and was the team's second-leading tackler. Greenlaw had dealt with Achilles tendon issues recently, but he missed only those two regular-season games — and one of those was the regular-season finale, which he missed for non-injury reasons. The Niners will host the winner of Sunday's game between Tampa Bay and Detroit next weekend for a spot in the Super Bowl. Green Bay converted a third-and-15 when Ambry Thomas was called for a 41-yard pass interference penalty against Bo Melton. The Niners made them pay for that with Purdy hitting George Kittle on a 32-yard pass on the run for a TD that gave San Francisco the lead. Jones finished with 108 yards on 18 carries for the Packers, and Love was 21 of 34 for 194 yards. 49ers: WR Deebo Samuel injured his shoulder on the opening drive and missed most of the game.

(AP) — Baker Mayfield threw for 337 yards and three touchdowns to lead the resurgent Tampa Bay Buccaneers to a 32-9 wild-card playoff victory over Jalen Hurts and the defending NFC champion Philadelphia Eagles on Monday night. “We’ve fought so hard to get to this point, to get a chance to be in the playoffs," Mayfield said. Philadelphia outgained the Bucs 472 yards to 174, running 78 plays to Tampa Bay’s 44 in the first meeting. With Mayfield getting off to a quick start against a porous, poor-tackling Eagles secondary, the Bucs offense gained 178 yards in the first quarter alone Monday night. Chase McLaughlin kicked field goals of 28, 54 and 48 yards, the latter extending Tampa Bay’s lead to 16-3 late in the second quarter.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — San Francisco 49ers linebacker Dre Greenlaw was ejected from Sunday's against Philadelphia for putting his hand in the face of the Eagles' chief security officer. Dom DiSandro, a constant presence on the Eagles' sideline and whenever players are out in public, pulled Greenlaw off Eagles wide receiver DeVonta Smith after a reception. Greenlaw was ejected. DiSandro also was told to leave and walked to the locker room to a roaring ovation from Eagles fans. The game was a rematch of last season's NFC championship game, won by the Eagles.

Samuel called one Eagles cornerback “trash” and blistered Philly as his “most-hated” team in the NFL. Nearly 12 months later, coach Kyle Shanahan can't even imagine what life would be like without McCaffrey driving the Niners offense. The midseason addition of McCaffrey last year immediately transformed the 49ers from a middling offense into one of the most productive. McCaffrey currently is in the top 10 for odds to win the award, according to FanDuel Sportsbook. I knew he was really, really good and really special and could do a lot of things conventional running backs can’t do.
